Hire Desk Technician Location: Oswestry, Shropshire Type: Full-time
About us We’re a busy, family‑owned, independent Tool and Plant Hire and Sales Shop serving trade and DIY customers with branches in Oswestry, Wrexham and Whitchurch. With a hands‑on team and a reputation for friendly, reliable service, we’re looking for a Hire Desk Technician to join us on the front line of our hire operation.
The role You’ll be the first point of contact at the hire desk—advising customers, processing hires and returns, coordinating deliveries/collections, and keeping everything running smoothly. This is a practical, customer-facing role where no two days are the same.
Key responsibilities
- Serve customers in-store and over the phone with clear, friendly communication.
- Identify customer needs and recommend the right tools and plant for the job.
- Create and manage hire contracts, bookings, and invoices using our computer systems.
- Coordinate with the workshop and drivers to schedule equipment availability, deliveries, and collections.
- Check equipment in/out, ensuring it’s clean, safe, and ready to hire.
- Maintain accurate records and a tidy, well-presented hire desk.
- Purchasing stock for sale and hire, booking in deliveries.
What we’re looking for
- Team player who can also work confidently on their own initiative.
- Strong communication and people skills with a helpful, professional manner.
- Good working knowledge of tools and plant equipment.
- Practical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Confident computer skills and accurate data entry.
- Well presented, hard-working, conscientious, reliable, and punctual.
Hours and benefits
- Hours: 7:30am–5:00pm Monday–Thursday, 7:30am–6:00pm Friday.
- Company pension scheme.
- 22 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
- Salary: dependent on experience, plus bonuses.

Workshop based Powered Access Engineer in Wrexham
Routine maintenance, repair & PDI of a modern hire Access fleet in a clean, warm workshop environment where the priority is quality of work, opposed to quantity. Log duties and replenish parts on a computer system. Machines on our fleet consist of Nifty-Lift, Haulotte, Skyjack, Hinowa.
Required
. Attention to detail and a methodical approach
. Good communication skills
. Able to work on own initiative or as part of a team
. Flexible and keen to embrace new training opportunities, which may result in staying away from home on the odd occasion
. Basic IT skills for workshop log
. Full UK driving licence
Access industry or similar experience would be an advantage but is not necessarily essential for the right candidate. You must have a mechanical background with a good knowledge of hydraulic & electrical systems along with fault finding (schematics)

Workshop based Petrol/Diesel Fitter & Mechanic in Wrexham
Routine maintenance, repair & PDI of the general hire fleet in a clean, warm workshop environment where the priority is quality of work, opposed to quantity. Log duties and replenish parts on a computer system. Working as part of a three man team, you must be a team player but also able to work on your own initiative, you must be a good communicator, methodical and have a keen eye for detail
